How Does CAUSEBOX Work?

Every three months, you’ll receive a box of products worth $200+. The boxes are set to ship 4x per year. You can signup as an Annual Member (pay for the year in advance, with added perks) or as a Quarterly Member (pay per box seasonally). To sign up, first, you’ll need to select a membership type. After that, you’ll create an account, enter your payment information, then wait for the upcoming season’s box to arrive at your door.

What’s Inside A CAUSEBOX?

CAUSEBOX is delivered on a seasonal schedule— spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each box offers 6-8 new products that are customizable or a complete surprise, depending on your membership type and your preference. The product offerings range anywhere from wellness products, housewares, and art to jewelry, accessories, apparel, and beauty products.

One of the distinguishing features of this box is that it comes with a magazine that contains the story behind every product included. This allows you to learn about the items you’re paying for and how they were sourced. Talk about shopping for a cause!

You never know what you’re going to get, but you can feel confident about whatever you do get. If you sign up for the annual subscription service, you get the added flexibility to customize some of the products in your box.

How Much Does CAUSEBOX Cost?

If you sign up for the annual membership ($199.80) your four boxes back out to $49.95 per box. The annual subscription option requires customers to pay a one-time fee upfront. This one-time payment gets you four boxes, delivered every three months.

If that’s too much of a commitment and you’d rather go with a quarterly membership, the cost of each box is $54.95. If you opt for the quarterly membership and end up getting a whole year’s worth, you will end up paying $20 more than Annual Members. You can also just join as a Quarterly Member to try just the one box before deciding if you want to commit to the annual membership.

In terms of shipping, CAUSEBOX shipping is free in the United States, excluding Hawaii and Alaska ($7.95 shipping fee). CAUSEBOX ships to Canada for $7.95 as well, with no additional charge for duties or taxes.

CAUSEBOX Fall 2020 Box Review

Get ready for autumn with a new seasonal box from CAUSEBOX! From high-quality waffle-knit cotton towels to hydrating skin serums and muscle rubs, all of the amazing products in this season’s box certainly don’t disappoint.

I’ve been an official CAUSEBOX annual member since the beginning of 2020 and have been loving every minute of it (I even wish these boxes could be delivered on a monthly basis). The Summer 2020 box was such a delight–I couldn’t wait to see what CAUSEBOX would deliver this quarter. Let’s take a peek at what’s inside the CAUSEBOX Fall 2020 box!

CAUSEBOX Fall 2020 Subscription Box Review - SubscriptionBoxExpert

The CAUSEBOX Fall Box 2020 – Total Retail Value: $240 USD

My first impression was that the box was decorated with the cutest design to date! The Fall 2020 box featured a colorful design of cartoon women by Cynthia Kittler based in Frankfurt, Germany. The postcard included in the box matched the box’s design as well. I loved this month’s artist! Her designs are certainly something I would frame and display in my new apartment!

Immediately upon opening the box, I caught a huge whiff of a refreshing scent of aromatherapy. This made me so much more curious to know what was inside!

Sitting right on top was the quarterly mini-mag that comes along with every box. So what did the CAUSEBOX magazine contain this quarter? The Editor’s Note this quarter focused a lot on the theme of comfort during an unprecedented time (quarantining during the pandemic). With that, I immediately understood what the theme of this quarter’s box would be– feeling great and practicing self-care in your own home.

The magazine not only contained educational information about how this quarter’s products were sourced, but also featured inspiring stories of incredibly strong women around the globe and even fun horoscopes and autumn recipes.

For the Fall 2020 Box, I had actually missed my customization window, so all of the products came as a surprise to me when my box arrived. No matter though, I actually really enjoyed the products I received. So let’s dive in!

CAUSEBOX Product #1:

Bathen Waffle Towel Set in Mint – Retail Value: $90

Let me tell you, the Bathen Waffle Towel Set impressed me so much! I was exhilarated to have received these! I’d been seeing the waffle texture all over the place in modern home decor shops and had been trying to get my hands on a few towels and bathrobes in this texture for myself. Not only did it come with two larger towels, but the set also included two smaller hand towels.

Upon reading more about these 100% cotton waffle knit after-bath pieces, I was intrigued to find out that the cotton material follows Fair Trade sourcing principles–ethical practices followed at all three stages of the manufacturing process: where threads are spin, where they are dyed and woven, and where they are sewn into final products.

Subscribers either got a Bathen Waffle Bathrobe or Towel Set in Mint or Charcoal. I was a bit bummed that I didn’t get my towel set in charcoal (gray), since it matched my home a bit better than mint does. Despite that, I will certainly find a home for these bad boys!

CAUSEBOX Product #2

Tease Tea Glass 3-in-1 Tea & Fruit Tumbler – Retail Value: $39

First off, I think this tumbler has an ultra-clean and sophisticated look. Though I’m not much of an infused water drinker, I could see this tumbler being useful for the summer season when I want to brew some iced tea or cold brew. This tea and fruit tumbler will be a great addition to my kitchen arsenal. The best part about this brand, though, is the fact that every Tease Tea order supports organizations that are on a mission to empower women and young girls.

Alternative product other subscribers received: Milky Way Lantern – Retail: $40

CAUSEBOX Product #3

Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel – Retail Value: $39

So this is the product that made the entire box smell so great! I was happy to discover a de-stressing muscle gel in my box, because you know I’ll never say no to wellness products that promote relaxation. I tried this rub on my sore legs after my weekly strength workout and immediately noticed that the muscle rub transformed from an initial cooling sensation to a warming one. It was a bit odd at first, but shortly after I felt my legs were much less fatigued.

Upon reading more about the product in the magazine, I found out that the cooling/warming effect actually promotes circulation and reduces tension to help you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. This muscle rub will be perfect for post-workout relaxation.

Alternative product other subscribers received: Volim Love Scrub – Retail: $56 or Tribe Alive Rose Gold Criss Cross Cuff – Retail $42

CAUSEBOX Product #4

Buzzy Seeds Basil Grow Kit – Retail Value: $10

I absolutely love eating basil but do not have a green thumb whatsoever. But do you know what that means? A challenge has been accepted! I will make an attempt to grow basil this season, all thanks to CAUSEBOX! While I don’t personally think a basil grow kit retails at $10 (I’ve seen them for much cheaper at grocery stores and superstores), I will certainly be able to use this. I would love to be able to have an entire herb garden in the future, and this will be a good introduction to the gardening life. Baby steps!

CAUSEBOX Product #5

Core Bamboo Serve Set – Retail Value: $35

One of the main reasons why I love CAUSEBOX is due to its focus on renewable resources and sustainable products. Not only are bamboo products right up that alley, but they also look great in any home. Coincidentally, a cheese plate/serving set has actually been on my kitchen upgrade list for a while. With this bamboo serving set, I’ll no longer need to go hunting for one in stores. Love it.

CAUSEBOX Product #6

Way Of Will Brightening Face Serum – Retail Value: $37.50

This serum is formulated to be lightweight and easily absorbed by skin, which is always a plus for anything I apply to my face. It is also advertised to be “rich in vitamins, high in antioxidants to fight free radicals, and keeps skin hydrated.” Since winter has been slowly creeping up on me, I’m actually glad to have gotten a serum. Coming out of the shower recently, I’ve noticed my skin is drier than normal.

In order to combat the dryness, I’ve worked this brightening face serum into my skin regimen as of a couple of days ago! It smelled natural to say the least (a bit like bitter herbs which was a bit odd), went on smoothly without that added layer of greasiness, and absorbed quite quickly. Despite the not-so-great scent, my skin felt instantly softer so I’ll continue to use this!

Final Thoughts: CAUSEBOXFall Box 2020

Retail Value of my Fall Box: $240
Subscription Box Expert Rating: 8/10

This is my second CAUSEBOX and I could not be happier with the products I received. I loved how much this box was themed around upgrading the home as well as feeling good and comfortable on a day-to-day basis.

The Bathen Waffle Towel Set has got to be my most favorite product of this quarter’s box. Without even trying, I got my hands on something I’d actually been wanting for a while–all thanks to CAUSEBOX! The bamboo serving set was my second favorite product from the box (because I am just obsessed with home and kitchen products these days). Since I’ll be moving into a new apartment shortly, these products are definitely going to make great additions to the home and save me some money!

CAUSEBOX Fall 2020 Subscription Box Review - SubscriptionBoxExpert

Now that I’m nearing my 30’s I’m starting to realize the importance of sustainability and feeling good about what you buy and how products are sourced. With that, I felt confident and happy with the products that came in my box. Not only are they going to be super useful this season, but knowing that they were ethically and sustainably sourced made all the difference (and made me like everything more).

I also found the CAUSEBOX magazine to be extremely informational this quarter. With this season’s box, I learned a lot about sustainable cotton, bamboo, gender equality in India, and essential oil use.

Now a few thoughts on value. Bought separately, the products in my Fall 2020 CAUSEBOX would likely total way more than $50. Even though I don’t think this box is worth the “retail value” of $240, I would have easily paid $100+ for the entire set of items I received.

But you know what I value more than anything? The ability to discover new brands and products that I might otherwise never try in my life. I love that CAUSEBOX mixes in sustainable home and kitchen products frequently alongside natural products that promote health, wellness, and self-care. All in all, I’d say my Fall 2020 CAUSEBOX is completely worth the $49.95 I paid. Add in the bonus of that element of surprise when I see that beautiful box on my doorstep? Absolutely priceless!

CAUSEBOX Fall 2020 Subscription Box Review

CAUSEBOX Is For You If…

  • you like products that are cruelty-free and ethically made
  • you want to feel good about where your money is going (CAUSEBOX works with charities and donates to women’s organizations)
  • you value quality over quantity of products you receive
  • you want to be able to customize what you get in your box

Considering Subscribing To CAUSEBOX?

CAUSEBOX offers customers two subscription options: the quarterly subscription ($54.95 per box), and the annual subscription ($49.95 per box, a total of $199.80 per year). My recommendation? Go for the annual–you won’t regret it.

The annual fee might seem steep for 4 boxes throughout the year, but if you consider the fact that the average box contains $150+ worth of socially-conscious products, this is actually quite a steal. If you’re more frugal, minimalistic, and only buy what you know to be tried and true, then a CAUSEBOX subscription might not be for you.

However, if you love trying new products, supporting ethical and socially-conscious brands, and are open to discovering new lifestyle and wellness products, CAUSEBOX is definitely a great subscription to get. We highly recommend CAUSEBOX at Subscription Box Expert!
